Andrea Davis was born in Morrow, Ohio in 1966 and has lived and traveled all over the world, spending nearly seven years in Southeast Asia. Having recently settled in the Dallas, Texas area, she is an emerging artist who has followed her passion to explore an eclectic education in the fields of sugar art, various fiber arts, folk art painting, Asian paper arts and sculpture. Her enjoyment of nature, from gardening to snorkeling and her concern for the environment form central themes in her work.

She has a public installation at The City of Plano's Environmental Education Center, opening in 2011, and she was a finalist in the Red Bull "Art of Can 2010" international competition exhibited at the Galleria in Dallas, TX. Andrea's sculptures are included in private collections in Ohio, Arizona, Florida and Texas, including major works created by commission.

Artist Statement

As a lifelong nature lover and an environmentalist for the last 10 years, my art has followed a logical progression towards using the aluminum cans and cardboard that I prefer as my primary sculpting materials today. In my eyes, what many so often see as trash is in fact treasure just waiting for a touch of inspiration. I love how these "throw-away" resources can be transformed into something beautiful, useful and meaningful.

Transformation and celebrating the unique are common themes in my work. Whether it's a solitary fish swimming against the current or one flutter-bye standing out in a throng, I find meaning and richness in telling the story of the one who goes his own way.
